Edward Fisher, PhD, RPh

Edward Fisher, PhD, RPh
Dr. Edward Fisher received his BA in Biology and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and his BS in Pharmacy at Temple University College of Pharmacy. His current position is Professor and Dean, College of Pharmacy, Marshall B. Ketchum University,  Fullerton, California. 

Dr. Fisher has been granted tenure at three different universities. His first academic position was at Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy where he was promoted to Associate Professor. Subsequently, he went on to help start up three new colleges of pharmacy, Midwestern University-Glendale College of Pharmacy as Professor and Inaugural Department Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences, The Daniel K Inouye College of Pharmacy, University of Hawaii at Hilo, as Professor and Associate Dean. 

He also served as the Director of the MS in Clinical Psychopharmacology program. His current position is Professor and Dean, College of Pharmacy, Marshall B. Ketchum University, 2575 Yorba Linda Blvd., Fullerton, California.

Dr Fisher is licensed as a pharmacist in Arizona and Pennsylvania, and has practiced in a variety of clinical settings. He has devised and presented over 100 continuing education seminars and innovative NSF sponsored short courses. He is a past National Secretary of Rho Chi, the only pharmacy honor society, and recipient of the National Rho Chi Advisor of the Year award. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he currently plans to continue teaching in his areas of expertise which includes: substances of abuses, nutrition, and the pharmacotherapy of mental disorders.

Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine
Quality Director, Department of Emergency Medicine
University of California, Davis Dr. Gross completed his undergraduate training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and went on to finish his residency in emergency medicine at the George Washington University. He also received a Masters in Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University in 2013. 

Dr. Gross has been in academic clinical practice since 2001, holding the position of Associate Residency Director at both Maricopa Medical Center and Hennepin County Medical Center. 

Currently Dr. Gross is the Quality Director for the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of California, Davis. In addition to his leadership role at Davis, Dr. Gross has been active in emergency medicine on a national level for many years. 

For the American Board of Emergency Medicine, he serves as an item writer and oral board examiner. For the American College of Emergency Physicians, he serves on the Education Committee. He is also longstanding faculty for the Heroic and Life Saving Procedural Labs taught annually at the ACEP Scientific Assembly.

    • Describe the scope of the problem of substance-related disorders (substance use, abuse, diversion)
  2. Overview of substance use disorders (addiction) and diversion: epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis and pharmacological and pharmacokinetic properties of commonly abused substances - Part two, and Consequences and Prevention of Substance Abuse and Addiction
    • Distinguish the changes to diagnostic criteria between DSM-IV-TR to DSM-5 for substance-use disorders
  3. Pharmacotherapy for Substance Use Disorders - Ethanol, Nicotine, and Opioids
    • Compare and contrast the efficacy of drugs used to treat substance use disorders
  4. Obesity and weight control including pharmacotherapy for both OTC and prescription drugs
    • Compare and contrast the efficacy of drugs used for the short- and long-term treatment of obesity.
