In 2018, Journal of Periodontology published the proceedings of the World Workshop on the Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases & Conditions. The new classification for periodontitis is based on a multidimensional staging and grading system. It is important for dental clinicians to understand and use the new system for diagnosis and communication purposes.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to:
- Diagnose periodontal and peri-implant conditions using the new classification system
- Understand and discuss staging criteria for periodontal diseases
- Understand and discuss grading criteria for periodontal diseases
Part 2:
Optimizing Implant Therapy: Do's and Don'ts
There has been a significant rise in use of dental implants on daily practices. That is in part due to its high predictability. However, despite good success rates, failures and/or unfavorable outcomes still remain a major problem which in many cases can be very costly, if not impossible, to fix. Fortunately, a large number of these shortcomings can be identified and addressed before the treatment even starts or at its early stages.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to:
- Assess case difficulty for dental implant treatment
- Understand and discuss ways to enhance aesthetic outcomes for implants
- Identify common surgical mistakes in implant dentistry and ways to avoid them
- Identify common prosthetic mistakes in implant dentistry and ways to avoid them
- Discuss proper maintenance protocols for patients with implant supported prostheses
Day 2 (Dec 31, 2019): Seminar in Endodontics (6 hours CE Credits)
Part 1:
Diagnosis in Endodontics
- Fundamentals
- Differential Diagnosis: Orofacial Pain and Pathology
- Vertical Root Fractures and Cracks
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to:
- Approach the case in a logical way and properly run the clinical and para-clinical tests to reach the correct diagnosis
- Differentiate between odontogenic pain and common non-odontogenic pain
- Decide to treat or not to treat a cracked tooth
Part 2:
Management of Endodontic Complications in a Daily Practice
Practice of dentistry is a demanding career and could be even more challenging in case of facing a complication during the treatment process. The best solution for complications is just to avoid them. However, they are an inevitable part of our practice and may occur to any practitioner at any level of knowledge and skill.
Learning Objectives:Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to:
- Avoid most of the complications by practicing proper diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment
- Identify the complications when they occur
- Manage the complication as early as possible through evidence based methodology

Ports of Call
Port Canaveral, Florida - As the home of Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral is the launching point for all-out adventure in Central Florida. Its beaches offer a mix of family-friendly shores and secluded swaths of sand. And with Orlando’s theme park sprawl only an hour away, you can easily mingle with your favorite characters. Beyond the parks lie equally amusing gems packed with Old Florida character. Kayak past manatees in the Banana River Lagoon and zip line above alligators at Brevard Zoo. Discover notable art museums and Park Avenue’s ritzy charm. Orlando cruises give you access to trace the region’s roots at the Orange County Regional History Museum.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten - The capital of the Dutch side of St. Maarten is the town of Philipsburg, though St. Maarten is an island with two distinct sides. To the north is the French side, whose capital is Marigot, while Philipsburg sits on the southern part of the island. When exploring on cruises that go to St. Maarten, it’s important to visit both sides to understand their customs and heritage.
You’ll quickly be charmed by all sides of the island. Of course, this Caribbean island is best known for its beaches, like Maho Beach or Great Bay Beach, one of the area’s best snorkeling spots. Sample local seafood or rum during your time in port, which have become symbols of St. Maarten life. There’s just enough to fill the day here, especially if you hop between the French and Dutch beaches.
San Juan, Puerto Rico - The vibrant capital of Puerto Rico, San Juan offers something for every traveler — world-famous beaches with crystal clear waters, incredible cuisine, rugged natural beauty and a rich history that goes back 500 years. With its ancient fortresses and colorful colonial-era buildings, San Juan makes it easy to feel as though you’ve slipped into the past. Life moves at a slower pace along the sunny cobblestone streets of Old San Juan, and salsa beats seem to waft perpetually from open windows. If you’re craving a hike, head to El Yunque National Forest. And if you’re more in the mood to unwind, set your sights on the beautiful shores of Isla Verde or El Condado. Mealtime is also an adventure, with so many delicious options to try — from mofongo and pastelon to chillo frito and alcapurrias. Pair every bite with a piña colada — Puerto Rico’s national drink.
Coco Cay, Bahamas - Located in the middle of the Caribbean's bright blue water lies the secluded island of CocoCay. With its white-sand beaches and spectacular surroundings, CocoCay is a wonderland of adventure. Reserved exclusively for Royal Caribbean guests, this tropical paradise has recently been updated with new aquatic facilities, nature trails and a ton of great places to just sit back, relax and enjoy a tropical drink.
