Nicole D Melendez, MD graduated from St Matthews University, completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Missouri- Columbia and her Rheumatology fellowship at Louisiana State University. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. She has been practicing Rheumatology in the Tampa Bay area since 2011.
She has a very active practice and is also involved in clinical research. She's been voluntary faculty at the University of South Florida in the Department of Rheumatology since 2015, and she has a personal interest in nutrition and diet and its impact on rheumatologic disease states.

Once home to thousands of Cuban, Spanish, and Italian immigrants, it now offers a lively mix of history, dining, and nightlife. For a taste of that heritage, a meal at the landmark Columbia Restaurant is essential.
For a more modern perspective, the Tampa Riverwalk provides a scenic path connecting several key attractions. Stroll or bike along the waterfront to discover the Tampa Museum of Art or visit Armature Works, a beautifully restored streetcar warehouse now housing a sophisticated food hall with diverse culinary options. It’s an excellent spot for a casual, high-quality meal with waterfront views.
Across the bay, the city of St. Petersburg is home to the Dalí Museum, an architecturally stunning building that holds the largest collection of Salvador Dalí's work outside of Europe. Further south, in Sarasota, lies the magnificent Ringling Estate. Here you can tour the palatial Ca' d'Zan mansion, explore a world-class art museum, and delve into the fascinating history of the circus. For a meaningful dose of history, a short walk leads to the Queen's Staircase, a remarkable 66-step passage carved from solid limestone by enslaved people in the 18th century. For a more refined local taste, the John Watling's Distillery on the historic Buena Vista Estate provides tours and tastings in a setting that feels worlds away from the cruise terminal.

A taxi to the expansive sands of Cable Beach or, for a more curated experience, a day pass to one of the major resorts on Paradise Island will provide the tranquil, turquoise-water escape you envision.
