Ports of Call
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida - There is an abundance of things to see and do in the Ft. Lauderdale area: visit the newly redesigned Ft. Lauderdale Beach and cafes, stroll the historic Riverwalk, shop the luxurious stores on Las Olas Boulevard, or adventure to the Everglades for an intriguing air boat excursion.
Bimini, Bahamas - For such a tiny isle, Bimini packs a huge adventure punch. Alice Town buzzes with a low-key vibe, while sugary sands lead to scuba diving and snorkeling in bright-blue waters filled with shipwrecks. This is a small-island paradise for sun-seekers and anglers. Here you can check out Bimini Museum exhibits, hike the Bimini Nature Trail, or soak up fresh-from-the-sea Bahamian seafood.
At Sea - Cruising - Cruising
Georgetown, Grand Cayman - Grand Cayman offers a distinctly polished and pristine version of the Caribbean experience. As a major financial hub, the island feels safe, clean, and exceptionally well-organized, making for a seamless and relaxing day ashore. Itâs important to note that this is a tender port; your ship will anchor offshore, and youâll take a smaller boat to the pier, so be sure to factor that time into your plans. The islandâs reputation is built on two world-class attractions. The first is the legendary Seven Mile Beach, a magnificent crescent of soft, white sand and impossibly clear turquoise water. While itâs no secret, its beauty is undeniable. You can easily grab a taxi from the port and find a public access point or settle in at one of the many beach clubs for the day. The second must-do is Stingray City. This isn't a contrived tourist trap; it's a natural sandbar where southern stingrays have gathered for decades. Standing in waist-deep water as these gentle, graceful creatures glide around you is a truly unforgettable experience. Beyond these highlights, you can visit the Cayman Turtle Centre, a conservation and education facility thatâs particularly popular with families. The town of Georgetown itself is compact and walkable, known for its high-end duty-free shopping, especially for jewelry and watches. While it lacks deep historical architecture, itâs a pleasant place for a stroll and a meal. For a taste of local flavor, find a casual spot for some conch fritters or fresh ceviche before tendering back to your ship.
Falmouth, Jamaica - Step off the ship and step back in time. You might not think so at first glance but little Falmouth was an economic and shipping powerhouse and center for dramatic social change during the English Colonial Period. Founded and named Martha Brae Point in 1769 by local English planter, Thomas Reid, Falmouth became the transshipment hub for the sugar plantations covering the hills of the North Coast of Jamaica. Edward Barrett, a wealthy English planter, strongly influenced the early development of Falmouth. From the wharfs of Falmouth, sugar, molasses, rum and coffee were sent to England while ships carrying African slaves and all the necessities of 18th century colonial life dropped anchor in the bustling port town. You'll return with sun kissed skin, timeless memories as well as interesting historical tidbits to share with friends, like this one: Falmouth received piped water before New York City.
